125th Anniversary!

On Tuesday, November 20, Tacony Lodge No. 600 celebrated its 125th Anniversary. A Stated Meeting was held and a lodge of Entered Apprentices was opened at the usual time. The lodge had the privilege to welcome the officers of Masonic District D, Bro. Leonard A. Juliani Jr., District Deputy Grand Master, and Bro. S. Eugene Herritt, Right Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. The RW Grand Master presented Bro. Timothy J. Curran Jr., Worshipful Master, and Tacony Lodge with his medallion and the lodge presented him with a gift and a contribution to the Masonic Library and Museum. Brothers Charles and Eugene Frolich, identical twin brothers, were presented with 50 Year Service Emblems of Gold.

After the meeting, a catered dinner was served in the lodge’s banquet hall. A total of 125 seats were set to commemorate the 125th Anniversary, with 124 seats able to be occupied. The 125th seat was reserved for a missing person, for which the lodge has set up a Prisoner of War and Missing in Action table.

A great night was had by all!

October Happenings

The month of October was busy for Tacony Lodge! We kicked off the month with our annual Lodge Night Out! Members and their spouses and friends attended a murder mystery dinner and show at the Peddlers Village Cock N Bull Restaurant for the Goblet of Poison show. What a blast that was!

At our Stated Meeting, Past Masters of Tacony Lodge were recognized for their service to our fraternity.

After dinner, Bro. Yasser Alkhatib, a Past Master himself, provided valuable knowledge on the jewel of a Past Master!

We returned to the lodge room and allowed the Past Masters to assume the officer stations and places for the conferral of the Entered Apprentice Masons degree. Bro. Albert Eschert, PM initiated his own son into Freemasonry!

Stay tuned for next month’s updates! There’s a lot going on as we approach our 125th Anniversary! Until next time, stay level!

Aid for Friends

A few members of Tacony Lodge and girls from Philadelphia Assembly No. 47, International Order of Rainbow Girls, a Masonic Youth Group, volunteered their time on a Monday night at a local food bank. Volunteering for causes such as this is always a worthy cause but showing our youth the benefits of volunteering will instill a sense of respect and humility in them. Great job brethren and girls!

August Stated Meeting

A Stated Meeting of Tacony Lodge No. 600 was held on August 21 in Egyptian Hall at the Grand Lodge Masonic Temple. After a fantastic meal at Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant, two brothers were raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason! One an Air Force veteran and the other the father of a Master Mason. It’s not every day that a son gets to help raise his father! The Bible presentation was performed and our new Master Masons were charged to continue seeking further light. There were over ten visitors in attendance for this rare summer meeting. A great night was had by all!

The Masonic Family

July 17, 2018: Stated Meeting

Tacony Lodge No. 600 held its first ever meeting in July rather than calling off from labor. This allowed us to continue our work and afforded brethren from other lodges a rare opportunity to visit our lodge in the summer. Our program for the evening was on the Masonic Family where representatives from 12 Masonic organizations briefly discussed their body or club and what charities each was associated with. Among those represented were the York and Scottish Rite bodies, Rainbow and DeMolay Youth Groups, Shrine, Grotto, High 12, Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth, and the Tall Cedars. After our program we moved to the dining hall where we had a meal consistent with the Taco Tuesday theme. After dinner and an hour of fellowship, we returned to the lodge room to confer the Fellowcraft Masons degree on Bro. Ritchie Pepito. The lodge was closed in harmony around 10:00 P.M.
